@indigo YES THIS. I honestly also don't understand why anyone would want to perpetrate that myth. is it that they're too stupid to realise that people in that situation can end up really fucked up and really fuck up their kid?!
@kdfrawg well if popular media is to be believed, anything as bizarre as a brain is to be feared and 'can't be analysed at all' - which is what they're saying about decidedly less complex AI neural nets O_o. Fail. because you can't possibly work out 'how' or 'why' with experiments or interrogation when it comes to another human/animal/neural network apparently :P
@thedan84 That's the exact feeling! for me 1) i properly fell in love and cared about someone outside myself - not sure exactly how that helped? 2) I ended up actually getting entangled in some tragic stuff- had to either help someone or walk away. I chose to help, I succeeded (with some caveats but essentially i succeeded) and that changed how I viewed the world completely
The trope on TV of 'then the baby fixes everything in the relationship' can die in a fire along with the trope that everyone ends up together and that the overbearing abusive partner is 'passionate'. seriously.
DO you feel like you're the main character of your own narrative? What does it mean to not feel like that? What advice do you give to a friend who doesn't feel like they have agency or identity?
@kdfrawg she was conventionally vertically challenged. maybe she was moving too fast up the stairs and relativity got the better of her in more than one way
