@kdfrawg you know, I don't even know whether to email the dean of {redacted} about the fact that 3 people in the same cohort at {redacted} have had such huge issues, expressing concern. Because I don't know if it will do anything positive.
Feeling a bit thoughtful and sad today.
Not to into too much detail, but it's the mental health and substance abuse issues of people who used to be my medical students or their cohort that is getting to me.
Our system, the people who go into it and the lack of support and so many other factors need addressing. We've been saying this for many years. The data is clear: doctors and medical students have substance abuse, depression, anxiety issues and suicide rates far above the norm. But not enough is being done, at all.
